Spreading Awareness in Mardin: Gender-Based Violence and Reproductive Health in Focus

As part of the “Local Women’s Socio-Economic Empowerment and Social Skills Development for Social Cohesion and Youth Empowerment” Project, RET, in partnership with the Yalım District Governorship, successfully conducted an enlightening awareness-raising session in Mardin.

Guided by experienced trainer, Ms. Amal, the session focused on the critical topics of gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health. With the participation of 50 women from the host and refugee communities, RET aimed to promote gender equality and empower women and girls in the region. Ms. Amal emphasised the power of unity and solidarity in our collective efforts to combat gender-based violence and challenge the social norms that perpetuate it and praised the commitment demonstrated by the participants during the training.

The session began by shedding light on gender-based violence, its ramifications, and preventive measures before moving on to discuss sexual and reproductive health, including family planning, genital hygiene, contraceptive methods, and sexually transmitted diseases.

Kudos to all the amazing participants who showed unwavering commitment throughout the training. Together, we can break the barriers and pave the way for a brighter future!
