MARADI, NIGER – On the occasion of World Humanitarian Aid Day (JMAH), RET in Niger demonstrated a strong, multifaceted commitment, mobilizing its teams across several regions of the country. Alongside other humanitarian actors, RET reaffirmed its dedication to its core mission: protecting the most vulnerable, strengthening community resilience, and promoting human dignity. Through a mosaic of concrete actions, RET embodied solidarity and humanitarian engagement, demonstrating the strength of its mission.

Impact in the Maradi Region

In the Maradi region, RET actively participated in commemorative activities coordinated by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). These events, which included a humanitarian football match, a photo exhibition, and a video projection, brought together numerous humanitarian partners. They served to highlight joint efforts and offered a crucial space for collective reflection on challenges, results, and the overall impact of humanitarian interventions. This initiative significantly strengthened cohesion and mutual recognition among all actors involved, underscoring the importance of a common commitment to serving the most vulnerable.

A crucial intervention in Maradi included RET’s organization of a distribution of dignity kits for women and young girls at risk in villages such as Chadakori, Garin-Kaka, and Dan Daji Makao. This action was specifically centered on protection and reproductive health, aiming to reinforce the dignity and contribute to the well-being of beneficiaries.

Furthermore, in the department of Madarounfa, RET partnered with UNHCR to conduct training for health agents and scribes on birth declarations and international protection. Concurrently, a vital sensitization campaign was carried out among refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host populations to enhance their understanding of their rights and facilitate access to essential services.

Solidarity in the Tillabéri Region

Moving to the Tillabéri region, the team in Ouallam demonstrated a powerful gesture of solidarity by associating with the local health district for a vital blood drive. This simple yet profound act underscored the very essence of humanitarian action: saving lives and reinforcing the bonds of solidarity within communities. The RET office in Tillabéri also contributed to collective efforts by participating in a conference that gathered multiple humanitarian actors.
