BEINO AKKAR, LEBANON – As part of RET Germany’s ongoing project “Improving Food Security, Livelihoods, and Inclusion of Women and Vulnerable Groups, and Promoting Gender Equality in North Lebanon,” awareness sessions on various legal issues were organized for each case on Saturday, November 1, in Beino Akkar, Lebanon with the participation of 45 women from the region. This project is made possible with generous funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany and being implemented in cooperation with GATE Lebanon.
The sessions, delivered by lawyers Lina Najem El Dine and Nada El-Erem, focused on raising awareness about women’s rights and ways to protect them, by highlighting Lebanese laws and international treaties that guarantee the rights of women and children. They also addressed topics such as cybercrimes, bullying, and online extortion.
In addition, the sessions covered laws related to domestic violence, sexual harassment, labor law, juvenile protection, and early marriage, as well as reporting procedures and legal protection mechanisms.
