Road to Resilience in Lebanon: Transforming Arsal’s Agricultural Landscape

NORTHEN BEKAA, LEBANON – In Lebanon, we’re working to make a difference in how local communities are able to tend to their land, increasing their productivity, and improving connectivity. Mr. Issa Hojairy, a farmer from Arsal, extended his sincere gratitude to GATE Lebanon and RET Germany for their support in providing agricultural equipment. He noted:

This initiative focused on the construction of a 15-kilometer agricultural road, which is now completely finished with some sections asphalted to benefit 4,000 local farmers in the Arsal region, and to ensure better accessibility and durability.
On July 23, 2024 the contractor, Mr. Nidal Meshref, officially handed over the completed road to the Arsal committee and municipality representative in the presence of Gate engineer, who acknowledged the project’s successful completion and its positive impact on the local agricultural sector.

Mr. Issa Hojairy added “Furthermore, regarding the construction of the agricultural road, your dedication and hard work have led to remarkable improvements in multiple areas. Not only has your contribution enhanced personal safety for drivers, but it has also resulted in substantial time savings. Additionally, the improved road conditions now allow individuals to travel using any available vehicle, increasing accessibility and convenience for all.”
