Right now, a small gift can make a big difference.

From March 17–20, RET is participating in GlobalGiving’s Little by Little Matching Campaign. And this is a moment when your generosity can go even further.

  • Education saves lives. Protection changes futures. And in places like Mbera Refugee Camp in Mauritania, access to safe schools can mean the difference between vulnerability and opportunity.
  • For four days only, donations up to $50 per donor will be matched at 50%, while funds remain.
  • Little by little, together, we can keep schools open and hope alive.

📸 This Month’s Cover Photo

In Peru, more than a thousand children in Metropolitan Lima and Trujillo are reinforcing their learning in Communication and Mathematics thanks to Diverticlases, a school reinforcement program within the framework of the Multi-Year Resilience Program Aprender Sin Barreras (“Learning Without Barriers”), funded by Education Cannot Wait (ECW). This initiative, implemented in priority districts, strengthens not only academic skills but also socio-emotional abilities by combining learning with empathy, resilience, self-care, and teamwork. Through playful and participatory methodologies, Diverticlases helps students learn, express themselves, and build confidence in safe and supportive environments.

1️⃣ 🌍 Little by Little: Help Keep Schools Open in Mbera

In Mbera Refugee Camp in Mauritania, education is lifesaving. Schools offer protection, stability, and hope to refugee youth (like the young girl above) who have already endured displacement and uncertainty.

  • From March 17–20, GlobalGiving will match donations up to $50 at 50%, while funds last, as part of the Little by Little campaign.
  • That means your $50 becomes $75, and your impact grows instantly.
  • This is a powerful opportunity to ensure refugee children continue to access safe learning spaces, psychosocial support, and protection.

2️⃣ 🇪🇨 Ecuador: Healthy and Equal Love

Through the EstudiANDO (“Studying”) program, we’re helping children and adolescents understand healthy, equal relationships from an early age and prevent violence before it begins.

  • By promoting empathy, respect, and emotional awareness, the program creates safer environments in schools and communities.
  • Prevention is powerful, and education is protective.

3️⃣ 🇨🇩 D.R. Congo: Protecting Children from Armed Recruitment

On the International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers, RET Germany contributed to strategic dialogue in Goma focused on preventing recruitment and strengthening protection systems.

  • Children belong in classrooms, not conflict.
  • By engaging in coordination and advocacy spaces, we work to reinforce systems that safeguard children and support reintegration and recovery.

4️⃣ 🇱🇧 In Lebanon, Stronger Together

RET Germany, GATE Lebanon, and the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen agricultural livelihoods (featured below).

  • Why it matters: Livelihoods mean food security, income stability, and community resilience. When families can sustain themselves, vulnerability decreases, and communities grow stronger.

5️⃣ 🇳🇪 Niger: Protecting Schools, Protecting the Future

In Maradi, we’re building safer learning environments to protect students from risk and disruption. Safe schools are more than buildings. They are anchors of stability in fragile contexts. When we protect schools, we protect futures.

6️⃣ 🇳🇬 Nigeria: Vocational Success in Katsina

In Katsina State, vocational training is equipping youth with practical skills to build independent, resilient futures. Skills create income, which promotes stability and ultimately saves lives.
