Since our founding in 2000, we have been dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable women and youth in crisis, conflict, and fragile contexts. We’ve implemented more than 450 projects, impacting over 2.4 million individuals globally. Our comprehensive programs, including education, capacity-building, and humanitarian aid, equip communities with the tools for self-reliance and sustainable development.
In this article, we present the top 10 reasons to support RET, highlighting the profound difference you can make in some of the world’s most challenging environments:
- Global Impact: We’ve worked in over 34 countries, implementing 450 projects and helping more than 2.4 million program participants, and impacting the lives of tens of millions more.
- Focus on Vulnerable Groups: RET focuses on women, girls, and youth – those who have been displaced, as well as the host communities that support that – and ensures that these groups receive critical assistance where it’s needed most.
- Holistic Approach: While our mandate began in education, we have seen the multiplier effect of supporting individuals find meaningful and sustainable work. That’s why our programs now include economic empowerment, gender equality, food security and nutrition, and disaster risk reduction – among others.
- Empowerment: Humanitarian aid is meant to be a temporary assistance. Our goal has always been to empower individuals and communities to become self-reliant, resilient, and positive change agents.
- Education in Emergencies: RET ensures education continuity in crises, providing stability to the young people who need it most, and hope for the future.
- Sustainable Development: Beyond emergency aid, we’re also working to foster long-term economic and social development and, ultimately, lasting peace. This is the core of our philosophy, the Triple Nexus.
- Proven Success: We have a quarter-century of experience in crisis and post-conflict contexts, as well as a long history working with UN agencies and national governments.
- Community-Centered: RET works closely with local NGOs and businesses to build capacity and create sustainable solutions. The majority of our staff are from local communities, ensuring that we provide opportunities and build their capacity to be successful long after our project concludes.
- Commitment to Peace: RET promotes peace through community relations, conflict mediation, and support for peace projects. We work directly with communities on developing the skills and relationships to solve local conflicts before they escalate.
- Transparency and Trust: RET is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, ensuring donations are tax-deductible and funds are used effectively. Check us out on GuideStar.
