AKKAR, LEBANON – Months after its completion, RET Germany and its local implementing partner GATE Lebanon are sharing photos of a new agricultural road in Bqarezla, Akkar, North Lebanon. The road was built in collaboration with the municipality and has benefited at least 60 farmers.

With funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GATE Lebanon and RET Germany constructed a 250-metre asphalt road to facilitate access to agricultural land and improve farmers’ working conditions.

The road strengthens agricultural infrastructure in the area. It makes it easier for farmers to move between their fields and to transport their products, supporting the livelihoods of rural communities in Akkar.

The initiative is part of broader efforts by RET Germany and GATE Lebanon to improve food security and livelihoods across North Lebanon, working together with local authorities.

The project “Improving Food Security, Livelihoods, and the Inclusion of Women and Vulnerable Groups, and Promoting Gender Equality in North Lebanon,” funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ) and implemented by RET Germany in partnership with GATE Lebanon.
