Situation Report from RET in Latin America

CARACAS, VENEZUELA – RET International has worked in Venezuela for more than 15 years, supporting children, adolescents, young people and vulnerable communities through education, protection, livelihoods, community resilience and humanitarian action.

The organization combines a long-standing national presence with regional and global humanitarian expertise, enabling a rapid transition from emergency response to early recovery. RET works through established partnerships with national institutions, local organizations, schools, community networks and humanitarian coordination mechanisms, ensuring that assistance reaches affected populations efficiently and in accordance with humanitarian principles.

Following the devastating earthquakes of 24 June 2026, RET immediately activated its regional emergency mechanisms and is supporting the humanitarian response in close coordination with national authorities, United Nations agencies and humanitarian partners.

Current Response

RET has activated:

• Regional Situation Room for real-time analysis and operational coordination.
• National emergency coordination with teams and partners across Venezuela.
• Contigo Venezuela, a digital humanitarian information platform providing reliable information, virtual assistance and live support to affected communities.
• Community-based information management through RET’s Community Multisectoral Networks (RECOM).
• Technical support to humanitarian coordination, information management and needs analysis.
• Mobilization of regional technical expertise in Education in Emergencies, Child Protection and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.

Areas where RET can rapidly scale its response

With additional resources, RET can rapidly expand interventions in:

• Child Protection and Mental Health. RET can provide child protection services, psychological first aid, psychosocial support and referral pathways for children, adolescents and vulnerable families affected by the earthquakes.

• Education in Emergencies. RET can help restore safe learning opportunities through temporary learning spaces, educational materials, teacher support and learning recovery activities.

• Community Information and Accountability. Through Contigo Venezuela and its community networks, RET provides reliable information, referral services, community feedback mechanisms and access to humanitarian assistance.

• Early Recovery and Community Resilience. RET can support communities in the transition to recovery through community mobilization, local recovery planning and initiatives that strengthen resilience and social cohesion.

RET welcomes opportunities to collaborate with governments, embassies, UN agencies, international organizations, foundations and private sector partners committed to supporting the people of Venezuela during this critical time.
