AKKAR, LEBANON – RET Germany and GATE Lebanon have begun the midline evaluation of their joint project in North Lebanon, a process that includes meetings and field visits across Akkar and the wider North Lebanon region. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
During the visit, RET Germany’s Monitoring and Evaluation team met with the GATE Lebanon team and traveled to project activities to speak with beneficiaries. The visits aimed to review implementation progress, gather feedback, and assess the changes resulting from the project’s interventions.

The field visits covered vocational training sessions, agricultural interventions promoting Integrated Pest Management (IPM), infrastructure projects, partner organizations, and women-led businesses whose owners received support through entrepreneurship training and coaching. The team also met with municipal representatives, farmers, and other stakeholders, including the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon (CCIAT) and the Ministry of Agriculture’s office in Akkar.
The evaluation is an important step toward strengthening project monitoring, learning from field experience, and ensuring that interventions continue to respond to the needs of local communities.
The project “Improving Food Security, Livelihoods, and the Inclusion of Women and Vulnerable Groups, and Promoting Gender Equality in North Lebanon,” funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ) and implemented by RET Germany in partnership with GATE Lebanon.
